Play structure builder Troxel Co. has recalled 100,500 U.S. units of the Flexible Flyer Swing Set, after reports of see saw seats that can break away from bolt fasteners during use.
The Moscow, Tennessee –based firm received 1,232 reports of see saw seats breaking, resulting in 13 injuries to children that included bumps, bruises and lacerations.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is assisting with the recall, as is Health Canada, as 4,900 units in Canada have also been identified as potentially hazardous. The agencies and Troxel recommend consumers stop using recalled products immediately, and contact Troxel for a free repair kit.
The Flexible Flyer swing sets were sold by Walmart, Toys R Us, and other specialty stores from December 2011 through May 2012, for between $130 and $280.
The products come in 11 different models each with a see saw attachment along with swings, bars or a slide. The model number can be found on a sticker located underneath the center of the top bar of each swing set unit. Model numbers and names are listed below:
