Green Shadow Mentorship Program
St. Louis Chapter USGBC
The St. Louis Chapter ASLA announces the ''Green Shadow'' program, a mentorship opportunity developed by the USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter Higher Education Subcommittee.
In a newsletter sent out by the St. Louis Chapter ASLA members are invited to apply as mentors for the program. The newsletter says, '''If you're a LEED certified professional, the USGBC wants you to help mentor college and university students! As a professional in a sustainable field of work, you have a wealth of knowledge and daily experience to share. The Green Shadow program provides these up and coming professionals with a one-day shadow of local business people. Share your experiences and help those 'green' to the industry.''
The program's objective is to expose students to green jobs in the St. Louis region through a one-day shadow of local business people. This gives participating companies access to local students interested in the industry, but without the financial commitment of an internship.
Mentors must have an active USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter membership and fill out an online application detailing their interest in becoming a Mentor and providing a list of activities in their typical workday.
Shadows must be enrolled in a local college or university and fill out an online application outlining any previous experience with green building, their interests in sustainability and the one day shadow program, as well as a reference such as an advisor or professor.
