The California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) runs the annual statewide competition to showcase landscaping work throughout the state. Steve Hanson Landscaping has received awards from the CLCA competition two years in a row.

With applications coming in from all over the state, the CLCA faces the task of visiting each nominee to review their technique, style, and incorporation of natural elements. Using Santa Barbara’s natural beauty, say company representatives, is one of Steve Hanson Landscaping’s specialties.

The landscaping firm reportedly considers it is a top priority to use trees and plants that live and thrive naturally in Santa Barbara. As indicated in a press release, each plant, tree, or grass species is chosen because of its ability to adapt to the Santa Barbara climate. The company’s long history with Santa Barbara has supposedly given its employees the knowledge and experience to pick adaptable plants.

The firm claims that it makes sustainable energy choices in choosing plants native to the Santa Barbara area. According to a press release, their waterfalls and fountains run on circulated water, using less energy and water. Each design is tailored specifically to the customer and his or her personal taste.

While the customer’s input is vital to the design, the landscape architects say they add their own personal touches, giving their signature to the finished piece. Steve Hanson Landscaping’s individual style and adherence to the needs of the natural environment are allegedly large factors in allowing the company to thrive in Santa Barbara and, most recently, winning two prestigious awards.
