Matrix Design Group Acquires Design Studios West
Among the project portfolio of Design Studios West is the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo, Colo.
Matrix Design Group, a Colorado Springs-based engineering, consulting and planning firm, announced May 29, 2012 that it has acquired Design Studios West, a Denver-based landscape architecture and planning firm.
Design Studios West has merged into Matrix's operations as part of its planning and design group. Don Brandes, former president of Design Studios West, joins Matrix as vice president and director of landscape architecture and urban design. Brandes also brings his senior staff, including landscape architect and planner Bob Eck, planner Mark Nemger and landscape architect Ian Anderson.
Design Studios West, founded in 1981, is known for its work on such projects as the Estes Park Downtown and Riverfront, the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo, Infinity Park in Glendale and the Copper Mountain Ski Resort master plan.
Matrix was founded in 1999 and has expanded its planning and engineering practice to 10 offices throughout the U.S., including in Denver and Pueblo.
