Donald Roberts, FASLA, has announced the completion of the first edition, World Directory of Landscape Architects. This directory lists 23,000 qualified professionals from more than 90 countries. The first of its kind, this directory will also list every academic institution in the world that offers programs in landscape architecture. William Crump

Boyle Engineering Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of William L. Crump, ASLA, as head of the planning and landscape architecture in its southeastern regional office, in Orlando, Florida. Crump, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, will be responsible for coordinating landscape architectural services for both public and private sector clients throughout Florida and Southern Georgia.

Michael Gekz

Michael J. Gekz, ASLA, has been named project Landscape Architect at Foster-Conant and Associates, one of central Florida’s oldest and most celebrated landscape architecture and planning design firms. Getz will provide landscape architectural and planning design for residential, commercial, resort and golf course community projects throughout the Southeast. Prior to joining with Foster-Conant, Getz served as project manager with the Tampa office of Dallas-based Enviro Design.

Diversified Builder Allen L. Jaffe of San Diego, California, is chairman of the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) 25th Anniversary, Gold Nugget Awards Committee, it was announced by PCBC president Aaron Kolkey. Chairman Jaffe, who served as a Gold Nugget committee member and competition judge in 1986, succeeds Kolkey as committee chair.

Micheal Cole and Brian Jenest are pleased to announce the formation of ColeJenest, a land planning and landscape architectural practice, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

ColeJenest is offering site evaluation, master planning, re-zoning and site design for retail, office, industrial, institutional and residential projects. Cole was with Odell Associates Inc. for eight years and directed the land planning studio prior to forming a partnership with Jenest who was planning director for Dalton Moran Shook Architecture since 1984.

G.L. Motshagen Associates, Ltd. (Landscape Architects and irrigation consultants), announces their move. Their new offices are located at 3100 Airway Avenue, Suite 132, Costa Mesa, California 92626.

Enviro Design Landscape Architects announces that Richard Horn, Jr. has joined the staff as director of planning. Horn’s previous experience includes positions as director of planning for PAWA-Winkelmann and Associates of Dallas, Texas, and senior planner for Las Colinas Corporation of Irving, Texas.

J.E. Starbuck, Inc., has been renamed Surroundings, Inc. The company is based in Birmingham, Alabama and specializes in residential and commercial landscape architecture and land use planning. According to Starbuck, “the company outgrew the name – we have several Landscape Architects on the staff now and are involved in many types of services – one man’s name affixed to the company wasn’t realistic.” In addition, Surroundings, Inc., provides landscape contract administration, feasibility studies, market analysis and environmental impact studies for individual clients as well as for developers.

Ron Herman

Ron Herman announces the opening of his new office for the practice of landscape architecture. His office, Ron Herman, Landscape Architect is located at 2156 Blake Street, Berkeley, California, 94704, 415-848-4972. For the past 15 years, Ron was a principal with Carducci/ Herman Associates. He will be concentrating primarily on residential, housing and institutional work.

The Keith French Group, a San Clemente, California-based landscape architectural/planning/urban design firm, has appointed Brandt Maughan as principal and operations manager of the San Clemente office. In addition, Rich Wilde has been named vice president and operations manager of the Sacramento office and Richard Leyva has been named vice president. Craig Duncan, Jackie Nishimura and Ann Yamashiro Cutner have joined the firm as project managers and Yvonne Chin joins the group as a design/draftsperson.

Brown-Cleary-Smith & Associates has provided the architecture and landscape design for the pool and cabana at the 24-story Grosvenor Resort at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, as part of the hotel’s ongoing, $8 million renovation and rehabilitation being conducted by San Francisco-based Grosvenor Properties, Ltd. Project planner and Landscape Architect Cindy E. Cleary, ASWULI, said a 2,000-square-foot swimming pool, a renovated and enlarged cabana and a sunken spa with raised planters are the key elements which will augment existing facilities and better accommodate the recreation and leisure-time activities of guests at the 630-room resort near Walt Disney World.

Michael D. Wadley has joined Florida Land Design & Engineering Inc. as director of planning services for its Orlando office.

The Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects elected Lynn Moore, of Seracuse Lawler Wong Strauch, as president of the local 300-member society. Moore is the first woman to be president of the chapter. Other new officers were: Guenther Vogt, president of GEV Associates, as vice president/president elect; Bob Eck, of Rahenkamp/Oldham, vice president programs; Robby Layton, of Design Concepts, vice president continuing education; Bruce O’Hara, of O’Hara & Associates, secretary and John Goebel, of Goebel & Associates, treasurer.

Haydi Boething Danielson

John E. Boething, President Of Boething Treeland Farms, Inc. has announced the addition of Megan Bredice to their Southern California wholesale sales staff and the return of Haydi Boething Danielson to serve as Boething’s operations director Haydi will focus on organizing growing activities between the company’s five Southern California yards.

Southern California Organic Fertilizer, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of another distributor for their humus based Gro-Power product line. Sprinkler Irrigation Specialists Inc., in the Northern California area will be offering a select line of Gro-Power products in their seven Bay area stores.

Steve Adams

Environmental Industries, Inc. has announced the appointment of Steve Adams to the position of Landscape Architect Liaison for its construction division. Adams will be covering the counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. As liaison for Valley Crest Landscape, Inc. and Western Landscape Construction, he will coordinate information and services between the construction companies and individual landscape architectural offices, bringing the most up-to-date information regarding landscape construction directly to the Landscape Architect in his office.

Bill Warren

Bill Warren has been appointed director of sales for the Turf Products Division of Garden America Corporation, according to Rex Dixon, vice president and general manager. In his new position, Warren is responsible for the division’s nationwide network of regional sales managers and representatives.
