Jane Martin

Tanya Tolpegin recently joined the Associated Landscape Contractors of America as chief operating officer. Tolpegin is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Lynn Meloche is director of marketing. Meloche’s diverse background includes 10 years of successful association management. Jane Martin is business development manager. Martin is a proactive, results–driven professional with more than 20 years of sales and management experience.

Michael Hartman is landscape designer and project estimator with Green Earth Landscaping and Design.

Tom Lucas

Tom Lucas was selected to participate in Class 34 of the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation. The California program is an intensive two-year course that focuses on developing the leadership skills to resolve critical issues facing California agriculture. Lucas, who is now starting his second year of the program, is owner of Performance Nursery, with four locations in Southern California.

The Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) announces four members have passed ALCA exams to become certified interior landscape technicians: From Rolling Greens, Inc. in Clinton Md., Jean Inaba, CLT; Marie Wiley, CLT; Ryan Eadry, CLT; and Kris Lambert, CLT

Countryside Nursery and Garden Centre, in Dewinton, Ala., receives the Grand Award of Excellence from the Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association (LANTA).

Vila & Son Landscaping Corp. receives two prestigious awards, Vendor of the Year and Contractor of the Year for Building & Grounds. Both awards are from the Florida Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). The awards were bestowed to the company’s Orlando branch for their work throughout six counties. The APWA is an international professional and educational association of public agencies and private sector companies, with 67 chapters throughout the U.S. dedicated to providing high-quality public works goods and services.

Connie Agee is events assistant with the California Landscape Contractors Association. Agee will assist with certified landscape technician tests, the summer meeting, conventions, the Trophy Awards and the California Landscape Industry Show.

Tom Tootle is the contractor development manager for The Toro Company’s Irrigation Division. which manufactures and markets irrigation products for the residential/commercial, golf and consumer markets. Karen Bassett has been promoted to the position of strategic account manager.

Daniel Jazdzewski is account manager for John Deere Landscapes in San Diego County, Calif.

James Young has been named vice president of franchise development for Spring-Green Lawn Care Corporation.

Chris Davitt

Ruppert Nurseries announces their 2004 awards. Stan Clements, controller, receives the Achievement Award; Oswaldo Reyes, field manager, and Oscar Morales, field manager, receives the Impact Award; Carlos Rivas and Jose Cruz receives the Crewman of the Year Award. Angela Howes was promoted from administrative assistant to purchaser at Ruppert Nurseries’ Maryland landscape installation branch. Chris Davitt is appointed to the board of advisors of the Capital Contractors Consortium, which was developed by the construction division of Bethesda-based Cornerstone Financial Partners.

Carl Kipp Jr., technical director of grower sales, compost and recycling services at Garick’s Paygro facility in South Charleston, Ohio has been selected as an honorary member of Alpha Epsilon, the honor society of agricultural, food and biological engineering. Garrick also has two new members. Richard Coan is new chief financial officer. Gregory Cunningham is new compost manager for the South Charleston, Ohio facility.

Jerry Ewing

Jerry Ewing is regional field technical specialist for Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting’s Southern Calif. region.

Winners of Hunter Industries 2004 Marketing Excellence Awards go to three landscape professionals: Bryce Bousquet, vice president, Reams Sprinkler Supply of Lincoln, Neb.; Thom Davis, marketing director for Horizon (a professional landscape equipment and supply company in Phoenix, Ariz.); and Bob Fragala, owner of Stateline Irrigation Supply in Tyngsboto, Mass.

Headed by Norman Bartlett, Bartlett Resources manufacturers’ representatives in the North Eastern U.S. now add Rain Master to their irrigation product line.

Ryan Hanley is account manager for the direct sales division of John Deere Landscapes in their San Juan Capistrano, Calif. branch. Hanley graduated from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona with a degree in ornamental horticulture and has worked as a landscape contractor in Southern Calif.

Gary Bomstad is director of new product development for Stellar Industries, Inc., a supplier of high-quality, truck-mounted equipment including air compressors and cranes.

Shane Riley and Christina Todd are new agronomic sales representatives with Horizon, a distributor of turf irrigation products, outdoor power equipment, fertilizers and allied products for the professional turf, landscape and golf markets. Riley has more than 12 years of industry experience. Todd is a graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor degree in turfgrass science and a minor in agri-business.
