Great Urban Parks Campaign's Grant Funding

Ten communities have been awarded grant funding, by the NRPA's Great Urban Parks Campaign, in order to provide best practices and benefits of green stormwater infrastructure. The recipients will work to improve climate resiliency and access to recreation outdoors.

Through the National Recreation and Park Association's Great Urban Parks Campaign, a total of $2 million in grant funding has been given to 10 communities around the United States in order to support green infrastructure projects. The communities will collaborate with major cities such as Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Denver to focus on "heat island effect, food insecurity and improved access to waterways, trails and play."

The 2018 recipients of the Great Urban Parks Campaign include:
• Bernalillo County, New Mexico
• City of El Paso, Texas
• City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, Michigan
• City of Lake Charles, Louisiana
• City of Memphis Parks and Neighborhoods Division, Tennessee
• Heartland Conservation Alliance, Missouri
• Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, Florida
• Local Government Commission, California
• Louisville Parks and Recreation, Kentucky
• New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, New York
