NALP Awards Educator of the Year
Professor Helps Students Find Career Opportunities

Marcus Duck holds a master's degree in horticulture from Michigan State University where he currently serves as an instructor and advisor.


The National Association of Landscape Professionals presented Marcus Duck, of Michigan State University with the outstanding educator of the year award.

Duck is an advisor, instructor and coordinator for the Ag Tech Program. Former students nominated him and colleagues at MSU for his work with helping students gain industry experience.

He has acted as a liaison with outside companies and connected students with internships as well as industry opportunities.

Roger Phelps of STIHL Inc., presented the award during the National Collegiate Landscape Competition closing ceremonies.

"Marcus has been a great champion of the industry, a great educator, and a great partner in hosting NCLC," said NALP CEO Sabeena Hickman, CAE. "We are pleased to recognize his work in supporting careers and increasing the level of professionalism in the industry."
