To Maintain Healthy Rainforests

Ipe Woods USA will plant five new trees for every order sold to promote the preservation of rainforests.

In an effort to combat deforestation, Ipe Woods USA announced it would plant five new trees for every order sold.

According to the company, "logging accounts for between two to three percent of total deforestation in the Amazon."

Instead, the biggest factor of deforestation in the Amazon is cattle ranching, which has made Brazil one of the largest importers of beef.

Cattle ranching accounts for 80 percent of recent deforestation rates with 450,000 square kilometers of the Amazon cleared for cattle pasture according to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Ipe Woods USA supports logging to keep the Amazon and any forest healthy but believes in giving back to the land to maintain a balance.

"These new trees will help maintain the health of the forests and climate, and keep the lungs of the planet healthy," said the company in a press release. "All these small efforts collectively will snowball, strengthening the forests and maintaining healthy environments."
