Professional Grounds Management Society


As part of their annual Awards and Induction Dinner that took place Friday, Oct. 20 during the 2017 School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO held in Louisville, Ky., the PGMS honored several grounds professionals, and elected and installed new officers and directors.

Gerald Landby of Roosevelt, Minn. accepted the president's gavel as the newly elected and installed president of PGMS.

Steve Keating, CSE, CME of the Toro Company received the PGMS Gold Medal Award. which is given to recognize outstanding and long-term achievements and/or contributions.

The President's Award honors a member or members who has shown outstanding service and contributions to the society and this year the recipient was Susanne Woodell, CGM for among other things, giving a large effort in developing and coordinating the association's School of Grounds Management Summer Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Past President Marion Bolick, CGM presented Stephanie Bruno, the association's incoming executive director, with the Special Award of Distinguished Service.



PGMS also recognized three campuses with the prestigious Landscape Management and Operations Accreditation this year.

Texas Texas A&M University (as managed by SSC Services for Education) received a 2-Star Accreditation. Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was presented with a 3-Star Accreditation. Pictured are Steve Furmanski of Penn State Hershey, and facilitator of the PGMS accreditation program Joseph Jackson, CGM).


Not pictured are the representatives of Grand Valley State University - Allendale and Pew Campuses, which were awarded a 4-Star Landscape Accreditation.
