2017 ASLA Chapter Reports

ASLA members from across the nation met in Wisconsin for this year's Advocacy Summit, where they toured the Menomonee Valley with government officials.

The Wisconsin ASLA Chapter hosted the 17th Annual Advocacy Summit on September 8-10 in Milwaukee. Representatives from more than 30 chapters came together to discuss politics, legislature, new opportunities, and ways to improve advocacy efforts.

Attendees, along with Wisconsin State Senator LaTonya Johnson and a staff member from U.S. Senator Ron Johnson's office, toured the Menomonee Valley, a formerly unused site that was transformed with a green stormwater system, riverbank restoration, and a park.

A panel discussion on licensure threats and advocacy provided a forum for peer-to-peer advice on how to run an effective advocacy campaign. The Wisconsin Chapter's lobbyist presented tips on how to hire and work with a lobbyist.

Members are encouraged to visit for toolkits and other resources to carry out an effective advocacy program.

As seen in LASN magazine, December 2017.
