Obama Adds Record Number of National Monuments

Bill Clinton (19) and Teddy Roosevelt (18) came closest to Obama's national monuments numbers, but Jimmy Carter protected the most land (54 million acres in Alaska).

Adding to his land preservation legacy, President Obama in December designated two more national monuments: Bears Ears in Utah, and Gold Butte in Nevada, nearly 2 million acres combined Best Replica Watches. Even in the early days of January with the Jan. 20 inauguration looming, his administration completed a plan to preserve 5 million acres in Alaska.

For the National Park Service's centennial in August 2016, Obama designated the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in Maine. And in Sept. 2016, Obama quadrupled the size of a marine sanctuary in Hawaii.
