The School of Concrete and Construction Management is the latest addition to Middle Tennessee State University's College of Basic and Applied Sciences.

Middle Tennessee State University's College of Basic and Applied Sciences combined its concrete and construction programs to create the MTSU School of Concrete and Construction Management.

The merger of the two programs was made official on Dec 8 at an event in Nashville, Tenn., led by Dean Bud Fischer, Provost Mark Byrnes, and School Director Heather Brown, who hope that the merger will attract high school students, parents and employers.

The ultimate goal is that the school will be the statewide center for concrete and construction education. The Concrete Industry Management program was the first of its kind, and is considered one of the best concrete programs in the nation. The Residential/Development and Commercial Construction program has been around for more than 20 years, and is considered one of the best in the region.

The merger of the two programs creates a unique organization and a new standard for the university in education, research and outreach.
