Portland Cement Association Turns 100
Celebration Begins at World of Concrete, Feb. 2-5
The Portland Cement Association will be celebrating its centennial in 2016. The association, which is considered an authority on technology, economics, and applications of cement and concrete, will hold many events throughout the year to honor the centennial as well as concrete's role as a building block of society.
According to the Portland Cement Association website, "The anniversary marks an occasion to not only celebrate the association, but where the industry has come and where it is heading into the next century."
The celebrations will officially launch at World of Concrete, February 2-5 in Las Vegas. At PCA's Spring Congress, March 14-15, there will be a dinner at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, the hotel where the association was formed. Additionally, the association will hold open houses at their offices in Washington, D.C., and Skokie, Ill. The Washington D.C. open house date has not yet been announced, but a reception for members of Congress will be held on May 25. The Skokie open house will be held on July 18.
Associate members will have the chance to celebrate the centennial at the PCA Fall Congress on August 29-31 in Chicago. PCA's Fall Summit in Florida on November 13-15 will include a celebration dinner with past board members and special guests.
