NPMA National Community Day
August 22 - Also National Honey Bee Day
The NPMA, a nonprofit organization that supports the pest management industry, is encouraging members to plant a pollinator garden for National Community Day.
The National Pest Management Association's National Community Day of Service takes place this year on August 22, which also happens to be National Honey Bee Day.
In honor of honeybees and their fellow pollinators, NPMA is encouraging participants in the service day to plant a pollinator garden in their community.
NPMA's consumer education arm, the Professional Pest Management Alliance, or PPMA, has created a toolkit to help promote pollinator gardens and to provide suggestions on pollinator-friendly plant materials.
Participants will need to secure the necessary permits for planting the gardens in their cities. NPMA recommends contacting your local city hall or visiting your city's website as a starting point for acquiring the permits.
