TCIA's New Website Offers Tree Care Tips for Homeowners

The TCIA, a public and professional resource for trees and arboriculture, has launched a new website, treecaretips.org.

The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) has launched a new website, www.treecaretips.org, which seeks to provide homeowners with information on caring for trees and protecting their landscapes.

"Trees offer homeowners much more than just curb appeal," says Tchukki Andersen, BCMA, CTSP and staff arborist for TCIA. "Healthy trees can add value to a property, reduce energy bills, bring variety to a landscape, and nurture the surrounding wildlife. Tree Care Tips helps homeowners learn how to reap all of these benefits, while improving their greenspace."

The launch of Tree Care Tips is part of TCIA's ongoing effort to enhance the industry's professionalism. "There's a huge difference between professional arborists and fly-by-night tree care crews," says Andersen. "Tree Care Tips highlights this difference by educating homeowners about the technical aspects of tree work and the importance of proper tree care."

Visitors can read articles, news stories and FAQs on topics such as damage and prevention techniques, soil and root issues, and more. If a visitor has a tree care question beyond the scope of the website, they can write to Andersen via the "Ask the Arborist" tool.

Visitors can also use Tree Care Tips to request a quote directly from a TCIA member tree care company in their ZIP code. TCIA has more than 2,200 member companies who recognize stringent safety and performance standards.

"Homeowners may be able to handle daily maintenance and smaller tree care projects, but it's always best to hire a professional who has the knowledge, training and equipment necessary to handle the task," advises Andersen. "Tree Care Tips connects visitors directly to TCIA members, so homeowners can hire with confidence."
