The Nature Conservancy announced recently that Pascal Mittermaier, former Head of Sustainability, Europe and Managing Director for London's Elephant and Castle Regeneration at Lend Lease, will join the organization as Global Managing Director, Cities.

"We are excited to draw on Pascal's extensive experience in urban sustainability," said Mark R. Tercek, President and CEO at The Nature Conservancy. "We have an enormous opportunity to transform how cities incorporate nature into their urban planning. Under Pascal's leadership we will demonstrate that nature is more than a 'nice to have' for cities--it is an essential ingredient for economic growth and human health and well-being."

"Over the past decade I have seen how nature can work for cities at the building and precinct level - Now I am excited to use The Nature Conservancy's networks to leverage those projects across the world," said Mittermaier. "Our cities program can help city leaders and stakeholders lead the world on a more sustainable path that fully values and protects the natural resources cities need to thrive."
