Irrigation Foundation to Hold Two Faculty Academies
The IA, an organization for irrigation companies and professionals, has announced registration is now open for the Irrigation Faculty Academy.
For the first time, the Irrigation Foundation will hold both agriculture and landscape versions of its Irrigation Faculty Academy. These events will allow instructors to network with fellow academics and learn about irrigation-related curriculum that can be used in the classroom.
The Landscape Faculty Academy is being held at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, June 18 - 19. Join fellow instructors for the following sessions:
o Anatomy of an irrigation system
o Installation of irrigation components
o Irrigation scheduling
o Drip auditing
o Slide rules
o Soil sensor technology
View the complete schedule and register online by April 24.
The Agriculture Faculty Academy is being held June 25 - 26 at the Irrigation Training and Research Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Take part in sessions on:
o Basic hydraulics
o Center pivot technologies
o Pressurized irrigation
o Pump and filtration
o Automation tools (solenoids, sensors, electrical controls)
o Pipes and fittings
View the complete schedule and register online by May 1.
Both events are open to instructors teaching at high schools and two- and four-year institutions. To help as many instructors attend as possible, the Foundation offers grants to a limited number of instructors, with preference given to instructors whose department budgets contribute partially to expenses.
Faculty Academy helps ensure that the next generation of irrigation professionals receives quality instruction with vetted materials. Attendees provide the Foundation with valuable insight on student recruitment opportunities and challenges. Donor dollars have provided nearly $10,000 in travel assistance to instructors who would not otherwise have been able to attend.
