Green Team and Partners Complete Work at Boys & Girls Clubs

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County, N.C. were the recipients of pro bono landscaping upgrades that included new plantings and renovation of all the plant beds of two clubhouses, and a refurbishment of their athletic fields.

In early October, Greenscape Inc. Weed Man Cary, John Deere Landscapes, Atlantic Mulch, The Davey Tree Expert Company, Professional Property Enhancement and Gateway Restaurant volunteered labor and materials to enhance the outdoor spaces of the Boys and Girls Clubs serving the Raleigh, North Carolina area.

The work included improving sports fields, pruning, mulching, planting and general cleanup. Greenscape Inc. chose this as part of their Outreach program because they believed it was a good fit with their commitment to the Come Alive Outside movement, which is focused on creating awareness and opportunities for people to live healthier lives outdoors through engaging green spaces.

"Boys & Girls Clubs are safe places for hundreds of kids to learn and play in Wake County each day," says Hugh McLean, vice president of operations for Boys & Girls Clubs. "Greenscape and their partners believe in the importance of this same opportunity for kids. We are grateful to Greenscape and all the companies involved with this project and their belief in our mission and the young people we serve."

"I would like to thank all the Greenscape and Weed Man team members who spent their day and provided their expertise to make this project a success," says Greenscape Inc. president Daniel Currin. "I would also like to personally thank all of our partners for donating materials or labor to ensure the project went off as planned. And thank you to Gateway Restaurant for serving lunch to the volunteers. The Boys & Girls Clubs provide an essential service for the communities where they are located and a positive way to keep kids focused and out of trouble."

Triangle Area non-profits are welcome to apply for landscaping assistance through Greenscape's Outreach program by completing the form on Greenscape's website.
