Lambert Gets the Gold for Dallas Garden

The award-winning residential Dallas garden project was installed on a 6.5-acre site originally landscaped by Lambert Landscape Co. more than 75 years ago.

Lambert Landscape Co. won a Gold Award honoring their excellence in residential installation from the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA), capping the fourth year Lambert has won a Gold Award from TNLA, the previous three being for exterior residential landscape maintenance. Lambert has also twice won TNLA's highest award, the Platinum.

Landscape Architect, Paul Fields, Lambert's president and senior designer on the project, said that the context for the winning landscape was creating a series of garden rooms for clients who had been inspired by historic gardens in their travels.

"It's an honor to collaborate with clients in creating a beautiful garden, and having our team be recognized for their artistry and execution of the plan," said Fields. In addition to Fields, the team included Bill LaSalle (project manager), Gonzalo Trigeros (foreman), and Jodi Joseph (maintenance manager) and the majority of Lambert's staff involved.

"We were working within the confines of a historic property to design and build a garden in keeping with the stately Regency-style residence," explains Fields.

The garden design included an underground rainwater-harvesting cistern, and relocating seven heritage oaks and transplanting other mature plants. The estate's gardens, landscape, and grounds are maintained using organic principles, whether for soil preparation or using nontoxic applications when installing plants and trees.

The garden also won the Judges' Award from PLANET, and was voted by industry peers as "The Best of the Best," both national awards.

Dallas-based Lambert Landscape Co. integrates landscape architecture and sustainable garden services. The company has been designing, building and caring for gardens and trees since 1919.
