A Quicker Fix

Spare parts such as belts, blades, oil filters, spindles, deck wheels and clutches are essential components at most landscape businesses.

A new manufacturer program aimed at helping landscape contractors better account for their inventory and optimize costs while minimizing down time was recently unveiled.

Called John Deere Parts OnSite, it is a comprehensive parts stocking and replacement system, designed to assist landscape contractors in the management of their parts inventory program so they have the necessary parts available to repair their equipment on the spot.

"Parts OnSite is not a one-size-fits-all program," said Jim Goldschmidt, parts product line manager of John Deere Turf & Utility. "By working closely with their dealer, contractors can have a parts management program that's customized to their business needs."

According to the company, the program often includes placing a parts cabinet at the contractor's location so maintenance crews can take the parts they need when they need them. The dealer can then re-stock the cabinet and work with the customer to account for and manage the inventory.

Dealers may also design the program to stock certain parts on crew trailers or trucks. The manufacturer provides customized payment and financing plans to help contractors effectively manage their costs and cash flow.

The company also hopes that the program will help dealers develop a better understanding of their customers' needs. More information about the program is available here.
