Yoshikawa approaches his waterfalls from a metaphysical viewpoint. He has come to view waterfalls as a metaphor for ourselves. That metaphor would be the interplay of motion (physical universe) and no motion (the Spirit) which creates energy or the dance of life. Just as the visual aesthetics of the waterfalls are important, so too, are the aural factors which create a meditative state of mind.

Yoshikawa is national award winning stone sculptor. For several years, he has concentrated on creating a new and unique expression for fountains and waterfalls. Sound quality is a major consideration, so Yoshikawa has orchestrated the stone to produce the sound of a light, pleasant rain or the murmuring of a mountain brook. Yoshikawa strives to create a reflection of our Original Self.

Ame no funsui (rain fountain) - This granite fountain is four feet in diameter. The circumference is created by cutting fine lines into the granite. These cut lines channel the water to create the sound of rain.
