Selection and Care of New Plants in a Landscape

Course Description:


Students will better understand the transition of plants from nursery to landscape, and learn about proper plant maintenance in the landscape. Additionally, new plants have specific maintenance issues that will be studied in this class.

Don Merhaut
Instructor
University of California Riverside

Don Merhaut earned a bachelor’s in Horticultural Science from Penn State in 1986 and a master’s in Horticultural Science from the University of Georgia in 1988. He earned his Ph.D in Horticultural Science from the University of Florida in 1993. He is currently at UC Riverside researching whole plant growth and development with special emphasis on the functional aspects of root systems. Project topics include plant nutrition, planting media, fertilizer technology and irrigation practices.
